Incorporation of monitoring and trends data into assessment of jurisdictions’ progress in achieving the Bay TMDL planning targets.++
Available tidal and nontidal monitoring and trends data already supplements progress evaluations, alongside simulated loads, BMP implementation and programmatic details. The WQGIT will continue discussions about details and any changes to the evaluations or associated expectations will be vetted through the partnership. One emerging resource is a ‘TMDL indicator’ in development as of 2022, which will serve as a bridge between observed data and simulated loads by accounting for lag times and other factors.
There is a need to better understand differences between observed water quality data from simulated load outputs from the modeling tools.
